Saturday April 4th and Sunday April 5th (this weekend)
SAN DIEGO (March 31, 2009) –Saturday and Sunday April 4th and 5th is a Cultural Festival showcasing the art, cuisine and entertainment from the Lao Culture. This Cultural festival is in its 33rd year and has over 7,000+ visitors over the two days. There is something for everyone at this event!
The night before, April 3rd, 2009 is the opening reception. At 6pm Legacies of War: Laos Transpired Art Series will kick off this two-day festival. At the core of this exhibit is a community- based arts project that will incorporate stories from Laotian-Americans in San Diego. Guest that are Laotian are encouraged to bring photographs and share their personal stories. This is not exclusive to Laotians and everyone is greatly encouraged to come enjoy and learn something fascinating about another culture.
Both days (Saturday and Sunday) consist of the Miss Lao New Year Beauty Pageant, Traditional and non-Traditional Entertainment and other Performances. It continues non-stop, International Live Bands, Talent Show, Art Exhibit and of course Cultural Cuisine. For Children there is Astro Jump, Face Painting, Rock Climbing and more! Lucky Star Restaurant at 8pm will be hosting a gala for the Lao New Year.
Come and enjoy this great Cultural event April 4th and 5th from 9AM to 5PM at the Market Place Center 404 Euclid Ave, San Diego 92114. Come be a part of the preservation of the Lao Culture Heritage. The evening gala will be at Lucky Star Restaurant on 54th and University.
