Tips for retailers and prospective retailers
I have advice for other retailers or prospective retailers: Keep it simple. Go back to the good ol’ days of retailing at the mom and pop level. Get personal with your customers and take your time with them. Go back to establishing sincere relationships and the selling will happen- not the other way around. Remember the little things, water, chocolates, nice places to sit, a welcoming environment. Keep a customer book to know what they like and buy- become their shopping buddy.
In-store events: Are you wondering why not as many shoppers are coming to your events?
No one wants to come to even a FREE event if they can’t spend- too much pressure. Most people (your shoppers) don’t wants to just come eat, drink, look around and leave. It’s just rude Change it up.
Have an in store event that shopping, sales, a trunk show are not the focus, but an addition.
For example: Dress for the Nines (APA Consulting’s) pilot store is have a green weekend June 6th and 7th. A green consultant will be in the store to talk about detoxifying your home, how to make non toxic cleaners out of everyday items and tips. This event is FREE and useful to our customers. We are doing something nice for them that they can benefit from. I will report back to how are weekend sales went.
Get creative and again get personal again!
